Phd Admission Procedure and Fees in India

The expansion of the Indian higher education system at an extraordinary rate projects the rapid increase in the number of individual universities producing a range of PhD research opportunities, varying from Science and Engineering to humanities, social sciences, management, art etc. Several factors responsible for this growth include diversity and specialisation, affordability and accessibility, increasing global recognition, youth and dynamism. Admission requirements

The minimum requirement for entry to a PhD is a Masters degree in a relevant subject, usually with an overall grade of at least 55% (or the equivalent).

Candidates may also be expected to have the necessary language skills for their course. For example, English is one of India’s official languages and is used for teaching at most of its universities. Other languages may include Hindi, Urdu or any other state language.

PhD application process

PhD notifications

Research proposals

While the candidate’s previous qualification, written test score and interview performance confirm their suitability, some universities may ask for the submission of a research proposal. This may be a separate stage in the application process or a part of the interview process.

Some universities charge fees during the application process. These cover the costs of registering and processing applications as well as the administration of examinations and interviews. PhD Fees

India is a comparatively reasonably priced destination for PhD study, though the actual cost of a PhD in India will vary between universities and regions.

There is no fixed fee for PhD study at Indian universities. Generally, government and state universities are cheaper than private or deemed universities.

Funding
